Volunteer at RES
Rapidan Equine Sanctuary simply wouldn’t exist without our volunteers. They are the hands that feed, groom, and comfort our herd; the voices that share our mission in the community; and the energy that keeps our sanctuary moving forward every single day. Whether mucking stalls, fixing fences, leading tours, or lending professional expertise, our volunteers embody compassion in action.

Every hour given makes a difference—not just in the lives of the horses, but in the spirit of our entire sanctuary. For many, volunteering becomes more than just service; it’s a chance to build friendships, learn about equine care, and become part of something bigger than themselves.
At RES, we believe volunteers are not just helpers—they are family. Their dedication gives our horses the safe, loving home they deserve, and their kindness is woven into every success story we tell.

What Our Volunteers Do
Volunteers at RES help with every aspect of sanctuary life. This includes daily horse care such as feeding, grooming, cleaning stalls, and maintaining pastures. They also assist with barn chores, repairs, and grounds upkeep to keep our facilities safe and welcoming. Beyond direct horse care, volunteers support events, community outreach, and fundraising—helping us share our mission and grow our impact.

Always Welcoming New Volunteers
At Rapidan Equine Sanctuary, there’s always room for more helping hands. Our herd’s needs are constant, and every new volunteer brings fresh energy, skills, and compassion to our mission. Whether you have years of horse experience or are simply eager to learn, your time and talents can make a real difference. From daily care to special projects, every contribution adds up to a healthier, happier life for our horses.
If you’ve ever wanted to work closely with animals, give back to your community, or be part of a mission-driven team, we’d love to have you join us.
